We offer three types of binding: Traditional Stitch, Nylon Pipe Binding and Wide-Linen Binding. Any carpet can be made into a stair runner. Visit us in store to see our samples in person, and we can advise you on the best choice to suit your needs based on tog thickness, durability, and pattern alignment.
CHOOSE YOUR STYLE
Stair Runners can be bound with traditional stitch binding, pipe binding or wide-border binding. They can also be fitted centered to your stairs, or full width for added drama. We can also fit american style or waterfall style depending on your preference.
Centered or Full-Width Stair Runner?
Stair runners can be centered to your stairs, leaving a gap each side which exposes the stairs beneath. This requires prepping, which may mean sanding, staining and / or painting your actual stairs. Centered stair runners look best on wide staircases as they can make your stairs look narrower. The exposed steps can also collect dust overtime and require regular cleaning to maintain that show-house look. Centered stair runners can look beautiful when they are accessorised with stairrods.
Full-width stair runners are fitted to the full width of your stairs and require no extra prep work before being fitted. We recommend letting us know as soon as possible if you want your stairs fitted full-width as this niche binding technique is extremely popular and there can be some delays during busy season (October - February).

After deciding whether to have your stair runner fill-width or centered, the next important decision is which binding technique you want for your stair runner. We offer three types of binding for all of our stair runners, each available in many colours.

The Waterfall style fitting technique is the standard for Irish staircases. American / "Hollywood" style fitting may suit your staircase depending on where your bannister spindles meet your staircase. Book a free consultation and we can advise you on this decision.
